Canasta: Pro App Reviews

Its a bit different compared to standard rules (actually easier). I dont always like how the computer plays: throws away too many wild cards instead and discards cards that we need to finish runs. Maybe needs some tweaking? Its still fun though!

I actually am really liking this app. No complaints.

If the developer doesnt make it more difficult is going to be boring to play this game cause the hard level has the same difficulty like the normal and the easy one! Make it more difficult ! Thanks

I realize this is just a game, but at least make it enjoyable for the player and realistic to the real world!! Lets start out by pointing out some of the reasons I feel this program was written by an individual with no experience with the game of Canasta. The plays the BOT partner makes are downright ridiculous: holding four cards in their hand when three are already played by their partner. This is a 500 point Full Canasta and should never be held in the hand. Turning a potentially full Canasta into a Mixed Canasta before the partner has a chance to play. Using a wild card to put down ten points worth of cards when an open mixed Canasta worth 300 points lies open. And the idiocy goes on. Also, when the play is down to one card left for pick up, it is not okay to end the game when the discard is made prior to the final card pick-up. This game could be so good. The graphics are great and the speed is good, but the game playing is obviously not being addressed by the developer.

Its a game but its not Canasta. Melding, rule disregard mentioned by others, and stupidity of computer partner (throwing away 7th card of a natural canasta) are big problems for real Canasta lovers. Developers idea of difficulty is throwing more wild cards on the discard pile. Could all be fixed, but it doesnt look like Developers are listening. As it stands, this game only frustrates.

Very addictive! Could play for ever!

I wish I hadnt paid for this ap for all the quirky moves mentioned. Youd think by now the ap would have been fixed.... but noooo. I play to relax and end up frustrated. I cant play anymore.

I really enjoy that I can set the difficulty level. Makes for a much more challenging game.

What is with freezing the pile all the time? I get so frustrated when my partner wastes a wild card instead of making a canasta. Also discards a lot of cards we could use. Should also have at least one more deck so dont run out of cards before someone can go out. With all that being said, I enjoy the game. Just needs some updates.

Fun way to pass the time.

This is fun but could use improvement. It would be nice to have an option to change the point value of black threes to -100 points.

I love to play Canasta. This game is really entertaining, but sometimes the plays the partner makes are really weird. Nevertheless, I am really enjoying it.

My family and I played this game all the time. Hadnt played it in years until I saw it in the App Store. Love it!

After winning all the free games I bought the app thinking it would be more challenging, but I am still winning every game.

PLEASE FIX all the stupid plays that computer makes and which many previous reviewers have stated. As soon as pile is frozen my partner immediately lays down new pairs and too soon puts wild on a 6card potential natural. Partner always picks up a two card pile that contains an unneeded card on a finished canasta instead of drawing two fresh cards to build other canastas. (Opposition sometimes does the same thing but not always like my partner does). Once I put my meld down it seems like my opponent on my right had a black 3 on its next play. 90 percent of the time opponents are able to put down the required 120 melt during the first round. Opponents also get the majority of red threes most of the time. This has potential to be a great game - just so many annoying features

The players of your games are idiots! I know youve heard this a thousand times. I think you should learn the REAL game and change your players to respond correctly.

Hands often stop before anyone goes out. This is due to the card deck running out of cards. Did not see this earlier.

Speed of play and graphics are great but thats about all the good things I can say. I really am sick and tired of my partner throwing Canastas away amongst all the other issues. The person that made this app must not have ever played this game.

I bought this hoping for a better game than the free version, but although you can choose "hard" the play is not challenging at all. Like others have said, the AI players ongoingly make stupid plays that no real canasta player would make. Lame. The visuals are nice, but they should have programmed it to actually play canasta in a logical, intelligent way. Not worth the two bucks, unless you are just looking for a way to pretend you are a good player!
